India is the World’s second largest producer of Fruits & Vegetables. However, the processing of perishable products in our country is very low, in comparison to the developed countries or developing countries like China, Brazil, Malaysia, Vietnam, etc. One of the main constraints in the growth of processing of fruits & vegetables in the country is non-availability of modern and suitable infrastructure with efficient supply Chain. Consequently, there is very high level of wastage of the fruits & vegetables in the country resulting in the farmer not getting adequate remuneration for his yield. A study conducted by Central Institute of Post Harvesting Engineering Technology (CIPHET), Ludhiana, an ICAR institute, reveals that wastage in various agricultural crops in the country range from 6-18% and the highest loss has been shown in fruits and vegetables.

Ministry of Food processing Industries invites views/ suggestions for reduction of these losses.

Last date for sending your suggestions is 1st February 2015.

Part 8/8:EXTEND 1 OUT OF 5to10 PUBLIC TRANSPORT TRIPS FOR GOODS TRANSPORT-ONLY IN RURAL AREAS: To minimize transport cost, local public transport buses can have atleast 1GOODS–CUM–TRANSPORT BUS every 5to10 trips, depending on area/need/density of population, usage etc., WITH ONE SIDE OF BUS HAVING CARRIER RACKS/TIERS TO TRANSPORT ONLY FRUITS/ VEG. BY LOCAL VILLAGE VEG/FRUIT VENDORS, who can’t afford separate transportation/tempo, but can use this public bus transport to minimize their burden!

This waste can be made a part of trade cycle where government should buy from farmers at reasonable prices and can be further used in feeding cattle and making natural medicines if possible or planting things

To establish a industry unit who make and develop a movale cantainer type food storage,it hepl the people to get the cantainer on lease bases or rent bases,so that the supply chain and it meantance cost should be reduced either we should use solar technology type big cantainers which will generate the green energy also.

We need a huge infrastructure investment in Supply chains and cold storage warehouses. Every year Governments allocate crores of funds for setting up Cold Storage chains and warehouses but ends up achieving nothing. Instead the Govt. should empower common middle class citizen and small farmers to set up Mini-Cold Stores and Mini-Warehouses so that there is Storage infrastructure after every kilometre. This will enable reduce post-harvest lossesto a large extent.

It can be done by promoting good, environment controlled go-downs. Temperature controlled, insect free warehouses are needed and air conditioned wagons to transport to markets. It can be done with the help of cooperative sector, in which the farmers have the control also. Nowadays the merchants are taking all the profits. Amul model is the best one which can be tried to food grains. vegetables and groceries. Tomato available at Rs 2/- in Karnataka is sold at Rs 40/- in Kerala.

I am Santhosh Kumar From Thrissur District - Kerala State. several government implemented schemes for controlling populationIf it controlled by law, there will be more complications like minority majority communal problems. If ‘Desh Bhakth lok” trying to control the birth, they will become fools, they will get nothing. If you are offering 10% or 20% reservation to single child on government jobs, military forces, state government jobs, central government jobs, there will be a dramatically change
