The Indian Nanoelectronics Users Program (INUP), hosted at IIT Bombay and IISc Bangalore, with financial support from the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), strives to address many of these challenges. Through INUP, Ph.D. students and faculty innovators from any university or institution in India recognized by MHRD can access these nanofabrication facilities which house more than 150 sophisticated instruments for fabrication and characterization of nanoelectronic devices. The students also receive mentorship from experts – both faculty and other senior students – about their research projects and prototype development. INUP also conducts workshops to provide information and “hands-on” sessions to explain use of equipment.

If you are a Ph.D. student anywhere in India who wishes to try out an innovative idea in the area of nanoelectronics, you can send a proposal to INUP (http://www.inup.iitb.ac.in and http://www.nano.iisc.ernet.in/inup/). INUP provides the funding, help, mentorship and facilities, but the IP of your idea belongs to you.

The Government of India should work directly with US-based Indicorps (http://www.indicorps.org) and AIF (http://www.aif.org) in helping them with their respective goals to help India.

The IITs should partner up with the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign and perhaps learn how to set up a laboratory for semiconductor fabrication from the latter institution. They recently opened up a new ECE building with state-of-the art equipment provided by the industry. This type of outreach may result in fruitful partnerships for all.

Namashkar, Many have a mindset that it is too expensive to join the course of Nano technology in their UG or PG programs. Also the institutions which offers the course also can be handpicked. So it's sad to say that the interest in Nano technology among the youngsters is less. Initially please try to change their mindset by granting more colleges with Nano technology courses. Also encourage the research in this field within our country.

In class 9th and 10th Science book, separate nano technology topic should be included,so that science students should create interest and should involve in that particular subject. In 11th and 12th Std, specialised subject-nano technology should be included in the curriculum. After passing through this ,separate Entrance Exams should be conducted by IITs,so that students who pass can become eligible to apply for the course. *faculties should be given special training on this at IITs.

We know glasses being made using nanotechnology which don't allow infra red rays to pass through them. I believe manufacturing of such glasses have great economic potential in India, a tropical country. Production of such glasses at large scales could fuel demands from car manufacturers, building designers and many more. Who wants heat to be trapped where people are sitting ?!!

Encourage youngsters (from 11th standard onwards or maybe 10th standard also) to take up nano tech as a research subject. Institutions like IISc and IITB can be instrumental in finding talents across India by conducting exams in this area.

Resp Sh Narendrabhai Modi, I would like to suggest a saving of energy in Govt offices which are wasting a lot of scarce commodity of Power. Put a sensor in the office and if the officer concerned is in his office then only the power is on just like in the Five star Hotels; this suggestion is because of lack of ownership among most of the govt employees whose behaviour will be different, if they are at home and power bill is to be paid from their pocket.
