Chandigarh Administration is determined to provide 24x7 access to potable water to the residents of all Villages, Colonies and Sectors of U.T., Chandigarh. Towards its commitment to develop Chandigarh as a Smart City, the Chandigarh Administration has been making every effort, not only to ensure round the clock supply of water but also supply of water fit for human consumption.

The methodology to further strengthen the supply network of drinking water is to be chalked-out in consultation with the residents of Chandigarh. Municipal Corporation Chandigarh (MCC) is responsible for supply of quality water with sufficient water pressure throughout the day to meet their daily needs, but still there is some shadow area in which water in which water supply is problematic due to some reasons. Chandigarh Administration would ensure that all necessary steps are taken up in terms of strengthening distribution network and reduction in wastage of water etc.

Therefore, Chandigarh Administration would like to invite ideas, views, opinion and suggestions from the residents so that the objective of 24x7 supply of portable water could be achieved.

There are certain taps installed in aeroplanes which dispense out very little amount of water.THESE TAPS SHOULD BE INSTALLED AT MORE PLACES. THERE SHOULD BE STAR RATING FOR TAPS ALSO. FOR EXAMPLE UNDER A STANDARD PRESSURE WHICH TAPS DISPENSE LESS AMOUNT OF WATER.

To begin with, the administration should strictly check all houses for misuse of booster/tullu pumps being used at the ground level, lined up to the supply line. These people have the means and resources to make such arrangements and there is no means to keep check on there wastage of water after there top tanks are filled.

UT/MC may consider doing Rainwater harvesting by constructing sumps in the open MC land ie between the blocks of buildings and nearest residents can pool in to invest by connecting it to their Overhead tanks.A team of Consultant and academic institution must do a good job. Near by sump shouldn't be threat to the building structure.

In water and wastewater systems, an "asset" is a component of a facility with an independent physical and functional identity and age (e.g., pump, motor, sedimentation tank, main). The renewal and replacement of the assets that make up our nation's water infrastructure is a constant and ongoing task. To efficiently manage this important part of a utility's business, many have turned to asset management.Asset management is maintaining a desired level of service.

More and more utilities are using water efficiency and consumer conservation programs to increase the sustainability of their supplies. Case studies demonstrate substantial opportunities to improve efficiency through supply-side practices, such as accurate meter reading and leak detection and repair programs, as well as through demand-side strategies, such as conservation-based water rates and public education programs.
