The stage 2 of the Smart City competition is very crucial as each city’s Smart City Proposal (SCP) is supposed to contain the model chosen, whether retrofitting or redevelopment or greenfield development or a mix thereof, and additionally include Pan-City dimension with Smart Solutions. The Smart City Proposal (SCP) will also outline the consultations held with the city residents and other stakeholders. Also, a vision for the Smart City has to be prepared, and this vision should emerge from the needs, aspirations and wishes of the local people to make their city offering more to live better life.

The biggest driver of the Smart City is the smart citizen. Citizen involvement in Smart Cities is elevated. So, the Smart City Proposal will be Citizen Centric, designated after consultations with residents of the city and through active participation of various groups such as Residents Welfare Associations (RWAs), Tax Payers Associations (TPAs), Senior Citizens and Slum Dwellers Associations (SDAs).

During consultations, various issues such as areas of utmost concern, needs and priorities of citizens and different groups/associations will be identified and people centric solutions will be evolved.

Chandigarh Administration hereby invites the citizens of Chandigarh to share their views on ‘How to make Chandigarh a Smart City’. The campaign aims to increase public participation in Chandigarh Administration’s effort to garner support for the city’s quest for a Smart City tag.

The residents of Chandigarh can also post, share their ideas, views and opinions on ‘Smart Chandigarh’- the official mobile app of U.T., Administration.

#Chandigarh, #UT, #SmartCity, #MyGov vehicles moving at full speed in the sector lanes with their horns honking without slowing down at road crossings shows utter lack of knowledge of traffic rules/utter disregard for rules. because people know that no one will say anything /check them. we need to inculcate self discipline

#Chandigarh, #UT, #SmartCity, #MyGov totally indisciplined traffic causing traffic jambs at intersections/traffic lights need urgent attention. Haphazard vehicles in the lanes cause more delay by causing traffic chaos. And the traffic police are mute spectators even when vehicles are stopped over the zebra crossing/vehicle on extreme left lane trying to cross over tho the right turn. Such drivers need to be heavily penalised

It is generally observed that though we are racing towards being smart city but certain actions are like road blocks. The auto -rickshaws are ruling the roads. They stop where they need to pick the passengers. All roundabouts are in their control ignoring the safety of others.WHY DO NOT WE EARMARK SPOTS FOR THEM LIKE THE BUS STOPS FROM WHERE THEY CAN PICK THEIR NEEDY TRAVELLERS

UT traffic police can some thread from Mohali traffic police who are locking the front wheels of car which is wrongly parked, instead of toeing it to sec-29. Toeing charges can be added & Online challan to be issued. Take payment by cheques, credit card/debit card. No cash transactions and RC to be released after the cheque-payment is realized. Mobile or fixed Wi-fi Hotspots like in petrol stns can be made to use credit/debit card readers.

Heavy fines or challans be issued for wrong parkings of cars in the city, particularly, in the residential areas. This will inrease the revenue of the city besides a lesson to the public for purchasing cars recklessly.

In this city all the shop-cum-offices and flats should be compulsorily marked with numbers in the absence of which no person is in a position to identify the locations of such commrecial buildings. If owners do not comply with the orders of the administration such buildings must be resumed. Due to absence of SCO/SCF numbers not only there is difficulty in tracing them but also become a source of accident as the finder shall have to concentrate on the face of such buildings while moving.

UT must very strictly check a sincere & capable team that whether authorized cos/shops are indeed doing fitness testing of the vehicles before their RC is renewed after 10-15 yrs. Answer is None. We talk Air pollution & carbon emissions. Rules/laws are in place it is a trained, sincere & honest team regd not to harass the dealers but to keep them in check that such tests are indeed done strictly. Charge the customer but the vehicle fitness should be seen from all angles before approving it.

I have across many a times that official leave their seats before 5pm. Go to water works, staff presence is less in the last few hours. No one should be allowed to leave office before the official timing. Secondly, what to talk of a smart city......... I lodged 4 complaints with MCC, on different intervals in the recent past and none has been actually addressed and in return I had been receiving a fake reply that your complaint has been resolved. I wonder ask the administration, 'WHEN?

In line with Supreme court asking Delhi officials to go tough on the trunks entering Delhi to control air pollution, UT should also follow suit immediately before it comes too late. Sound pollution is another area which needs to be addressed. During night the services of city buses, tractor trolley, mini trucks to be restricted to some areas only, at least not on residential area & sector dividing roads.
