The digital space has witnessed major transformations in the last couple of years and as per industry experts would continue to evolve itself. The latest entrant to the digital space is the Internet of Things (IoT). IoT can also be defined as interplay for software, telecom and electronic hardware industry and promises to offer tremendous opportunities for many industries.

With the advent of the Internet of Things (IoT), the number of connected sensors soon will reach trillions, working with billions of intelligent systems involving in-numerous applications will drive new consumer and business behaviour. The demand for increasingly intelligent industry solutions based on IoT will drive trillions of dollars in opportunity for IT industry and even more for the companies that take advantage of the IoT.

One of the top most initiatives in the form of Digital India Program of the Government which aims at ‘transforming India into digital empowered society and knowledge economy’, is expected to provide the required impetus for development of the IoT industry ecosystem in the country.

Department of Electronics and Information Technology,(DeiTY) has come out with a draft IOT Policy document which focuses on following objectives:

i. To create an IoT industry in India of USD 15 billion by 2020. It has been assumed that India would have a share of 5-6% of global IoT industry.

ii. To undertake capacity development (Human & Technology) for IoT specific skill-sets for domestic and international markets.

iii. To undertake Research & development for all the assisting technologies.

iv. To develop IoT products specific to Indian needs in all possible domains.

The Policy framework of the IoT Policy has been proposed to be implemented via a multi-pillar approach. The approach comprises of five vertical pillars (Demonstration Centres, Capacity Building & Incubation, R&D and Innovation, Incentives and Engagements, Human Resource Development) and 2 horizontal supports (Standards & Governance structure).

I would like to share an idea which is to digitalize INR. This can be done through 2 methods, currency with a digital signature + expiry date and currency transactions with Cards everywhere. Expiry date will ensure no liquid cash will be held by money launders. With cards all money transactions will be recorded avoiding black money use. This will help to curb unaccounted liquid cash and illegal currencies. With IoT a lot can be tagged along with this feature to curb black money in the country.

For quick & sizeable Job Creation, building refrigerated storage facilities on war footing is required & food processing industries should be put up in such fruit producing areas. For example, oranges in Nagpur, pomegranates in Nasik district, Chiku in Dahanu area, etc. Success stories are Kissan Sauce in Bangalore, Mapro in Mahabaleshwar, etc.

I don't think our country has prime minister i feel our country has a event manager. Who is busy travelling the world and not interested in the affairs of the country. Talking about policies ..what makes you think of removing NREGA. You wanted to earn brownie points by scrapping the current scheme and then relaunching it with some other name. Sir do some big bang reforms rather than allocating a part budget on statues of Sardar Patel

Dear Prime Minister Please take some action to regulate the prices in highway Bus canteens to stop the highly inflated prices of food, snacks sold by the highway canteens. Please make some committee to inspect the prices often My suggestion : To start a complaint number specific for such high selling prices of food in such canteens.

The IOT Policy must look to first establish an IOT Standard suited to the Indian Context for the industry to follow. In the absence of a Standard, there is every chance that different companies would start creating their own standards and we may end up with multiple conflicting standards thus creating bottlenecks. Creating a common standard would go a long way in establishing Indian Supremacy in this new kid in the Digital Universe.
