The views of experts be posted on the subject to start the discussion and a firm action plan can be prepared. Industrial and sewage waste is the major cause. Rules, policies are in place only implementation is needed with tough action against culprits and the enforcing officers. Zero discharge from Industries and sewage treatment plant by recycling the waste would reduce pollution. Nobody be allowed to put any Item in the river for Puja like flowers etc. Electrical shamshan Ghat can reduce Polut

I continue with my post. This task force should form part of Ganges Action Plan and it's concerned ministry purely contractual cum performance linked incentive basis with mandate of monitoring, imposing fines and spreading awareness.Harishchandra and Manikarnika ghats must have functional electrical furnaces and system of disposal of mortal remains need streamlining.Award of heritage city tag and improvement of inner city may improve quality of tourists so that they visit Kashi for right reasons.

The people who are in direct touch with tourists like auto drivers, railways staff & airways staff etc. Should be imparted with skills on how to deal with them. There should be central call center established from whom the tourists can take required information.

One of the important + point of Ganga is ,Its a PERENNIAL River. It cleans mostly by itself. We need to help it to Clean itself quicker than usual because of our pollution. 6) With the funds offered by GOI (2000 Crores) ,we sure can tackle the New Problem Easily. MAKE GANGA CARRY OUR SINS ALONE AND NOT OUR WASTES ..

PM SHOULD VISIT VARANASI REGULARLY AND HOLD PUBLIC MEETINGS TO ENLIGHTEN THE CITIZENS REGARDING THE GANGA ACTION PLAN WITH REASONS AS TO HOW THEY WILL DIRECTLY BENEFIT FROM THIS PROJECT. SINCE THE SCOPE OF THE PROJECT IS MASSIVE, AND RELIGIOUS SENTIMENTS ARE INVOLVED, ONLY A ROLE MODEL LEADER LIKE THE PM WILL HAVE THE STATURE AND CREDIBILITY TO MAKE IT SUCCEED.

Civic sense awareness campaign was taken up in a big way on regular basis in Singapore by their first Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew to tell the people regarding importance of cleanliness, environment protection, how to welcome tourists etc; and it had very good impact which is visible. Our PM should record his message on Doordarshan regarding what he expects every citizen to do to make the Ganga and Varanasi a sacred area and a world tourist attraction. This must be repeated every hour on DD.
