“The earth, water and the air are not a gift to us from our parents but a loan from our children.” ---Anonymous

Energy resources have transformed human lives and lifestyles. Energy resources have allowed for human achievement and ambition to move from the potter’s wheel, farmer’s plough and the weaver’s loom to space missions and robots among others. However, the modern world looms in the shadow of a severe energy crisis: the result of unsustainable and inefficient use of energy resources.

Unsustainable and inefficient energy consumption threatens the very basis of life as we have come to know it. In the face of the increasing scarcity of energy resources it is imperative that we launch a committed, concerted and cumulative effort towards holistic energy use habits and sustainable consumption patterns.

Energy conservation most importantly means that conservation becomes an all pervasive habit, an everyday philosophy and practice that aims to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels, adoption of energy efficient lifestyles and fostering innovations in green and clean energy technologies.

D&NHPDCL invites suggestions, guidance, comments from citizens, self-help groups, environmental organisations towards developing Energy Conservation as a habit towards an energy secure future.

saving electricity is like generating it. we can save it through changing pattern of our lifestyle. 1.we should sleep during night and work in sun light instead of working late night and consuming electricity. in this regard student can help most. this habit also helps us in being healthy. 2.During day, we should open windows to allow sun light istead of using electric bulbs.

1] Always carry re-usable bags for shoppping especially for vegetable/fruits/groceries. Each trip will save atleast 5 - 10 plastic bags. 2] Atleast 2 days in a week, use bucket instead of Shower for bath. 3] Avoid charging Mobile in night when going to sleep. Will save power and also mobile's life.

Energy conservation and sustainable development both are interwoven and it starts from basic routine of every citizen. Everyone should Use public transport as much as possible. Energy consumption in every house should be tracked by Government and essential subsidies should be provided who keep there consumption within limit. There should be a permissible limit of set carbon and pollutant emission, if exceeded should be provided penalty. Dyeing shops and industries should be under a watch

Make installation of rooftop solar water heaters mandatory on all buildings (Hotels, Hospitals factories, residential) which use hot water. This will partly save the conventional forms of energy currently being used to produce hot water in such buildings.

#EnergyConservation Here are some simple ideas that can be a gamechanger - 1. As a resident replace all conventional electric bulbs to LED-bulbs 2. Replacing all conventional Neon-bulbs for Street-lighting, with LED-lighting The above 2 points can reduce power-consumption to a significant extent. Other ways of are from the books - Encouraging bio-gas plants in villages, Recycling plastic and paper, Reuse of metals, Preventing wastage of Power within every house, Citizen Awareness.

#EnergyConservation Just small changes in our lifestyle can make a little difference to the energy conservation needs of our planet. If we make it a point to carry a reusable cloth or jute bag with us whenever we leave home and use that for the purpose of purchasing things from the market then we can prevent atleast 1% of plastic bags from reaching the landfill. Our little contribution can make a difference.

It time all state Govts pass rules for making making it easy for individuals to set up solar panels on roof tops or in their property for own use. Excess power should be allowed to be fed to Utility Company by reversal of meter in equal amount.
