Under UJALA scheme, the main objective is to promote efficient lighting, enhance awareness on using efficient equipment which reduces electricity bills and helps preserve the environment. Efficient light bulbs, like LEDs, consume only one-tenth of the energy used by ordinary bulbs to provide the same or better light output. So, we ask you to suggest ways for promoting the use of LEDs on this open discussion forum.

There are hundreds of manufacturers of LED bulbs in the country with varying prices. Thus, it is difficult to assess which LED bulb one should buy. Can the Government not open shops in every city and town and area, where citizens can buy the lED bulbs without worring about the price?

There are some issues of LED lights like concentrated brightness, darker shadow. This is in comparison to the lighting tube we are using in our homes. LED product developers can take up and overcome this issue. So that the use of LED will grow. Also the bulbs need to be serviceable so that the parts or circuit within can be replaced in case of shut down of the lamp or cluster of lamps. This they say is possible to create by design.

Recently I purchased a LED bulb @ Rs.150 in Salem, Tamilnadu. If I can get reduced price through public distribution system (through Ration Card) which I will replace all low power consumption from high power consumption Bulbs. More persons will buy LED Bulbs through PDS which will reduce the power consumption

This idea is only for those villages where still there is no electricity supply but according to his we can use LED's lights and lamps. U know recently a women invented a football. This is not a ordinary football but this is kind of self producing and storing unit which can produce electricity to power Only a LED Lamp.Suppose If we Play with this football for one hour then it can produce enough electricity to power a LED lamp for 3 hours. In this way we can convert manpower into electricity.

1. It should be made mandatory that all the corporate townships use the LEDs. 2. The Self Help Groups(SHG) as a part of economical development should be utilized in distribution of the LEDs in the Villages.

#UJALAScheme has the objective to promote efficient lightning, using efficient equipment which reduces electricity bills. So lets start with the main problem of every Indian family that is electricity bills. As we know LED's only consume one tenth of the energy used by an ordinary bulb so it will decrease the bill by 648 rupees per annum. Next the cost of a LED, the EESL is distributing the LED's at the cost of only Rs 93 which is quiet less. Also it give stylish look which we all want.
