The Department of Posts is advancing an initiative to establish a standardized, geo-coded addressing system in India, for ensuring simplified addressing solutions for citizen-centric delivery of public and private services. In this regard, the Department had collaborated with IIT Hyderabad for developing a National Addressing Grid, named as Digital Postal Index Number (DIGIPIN). This system will act as a strong and robust pillar of Geospatial Governance, leading to enhancements in public service delivery, faster emergency response and a significant boost to logistics efficiency.

The DIGIPIN layer will act as the addressing reference system which can be used for logically locating addresses with directional properties built into it due to the logical naming pattern followed in its construction.

The DIGIPIN is proposed to be fully available in the public domain and can be easily accessed by everyone. The DIGIPIN Grid system being an addressing referencing system, can be used as the base layer for other ecosystems, including various service providers and utilities, where addressing is one of the processes in the workflow.

This system will act as a strong and robust pillar of Geospatial Governance, leading to enhancements in public service delivery, faster emergency response and a significant boost to logistics efficiency.

The advent of DIGIPIN will mark a revolutionary step in India’s journey towards digital transformation by bridging the crucial gap between physical locations and their digital representation.

The Department has released a beta version of National Addressing Grid ‘DIGIPIN’ on 19.07.2024 for public feedback, the details of which may be accessed through the India Post website: https://www.indiapost.gov.in/vas/Pages/digipin.aspx

The Department of Post in collaboration with MyGov cordially invites you to explore the beta platform and provide constructive feedback, which will help in fine tuning the specifications of the DIGIPIN.

डाक पोस्ट हमारे भारत की पुरानी पहचान है। इसके माध्यम से कई लोगों ने अपने विचारों कार्यों का आदान-प्रदान किया है। इसलिए इसे आगे बढ़ाने में कई तरह के बदलाव हो और इसमें टेक्नोलॉजी भी शामिल करके डिजिटल रूप में आगे बढ़ना अच्छी बात है। एक सुरक्षित प्रणाली को साथ रखकर इससे पहले देखा जाए तो इंडिया पोस्ट का एप्लीकेशन सॉफ़्टवेयर लाया गया था जो काफी सही रहा था। उसके माध्यम से हम अपने कई कार्यों को ऑनलाइन भी घर पर बैठे भी कर सकते हैं। डाक ऑफिस जाने की आवश्यकता नहीं रहती।

Digipin should have a centralized updates specially by authorties, e.g a state govt changes name but is not reflected in central govt database, we have seen so many complaints that their area name does not match with postal pincode. e.g passport office. Address proof has newer name and passport office carrying older name. If we do not do so it will defeat the whole purpose of digipin.

Modiji, State government bodies like indore development authority or nagar Nigam have a lot of corruption in tender, contract, bad service after sales, third quality construction, politics and favaratism in selling property. There Babu - clerks are fully corrupted with support of officers. Normal citizens have no service there, political person or officer relative avail all services. AI AND TECHNOLOGY MUST BE HERE FOR VIGILANCE. The Corrupted BABU & OFFICERS Must be PERMANENT SUSPEND. State Govt Image is very bad among the normal public because of corruption and favouritism. Most of the time Corrupted officers & Babu buy the vigilance team, investigation agencies that's why the real truth never comes out. No Doubt India is growing economically but Corruption is increasing so much in India. Jewellers and Builder Lobby increasing So much Black money in Madhya Pradesh with the help of Hawala and Property selling. Here Govt Officers support them because of the Bribe & Corruption.

Hi, the DIGIPIN grid value is changing at the same location. Should be stabilised further and can be in parallel use with physical address and pincode for 2 years. Additionally mobile numbers can be optionally linked to Digipin for otp based delivery to avoid missed delivery.
