The Department of Posts is advancing an initiative to establish a standardized, geo-coded addressing system in India, for ensuring simplified addressing solutions for citizen-centric delivery of public and private services. In this regard, the Department had collaborated with IIT Hyderabad for developing a National Addressing Grid, named as Digital Postal Index Number (DIGIPIN). This system will act as a strong and robust pillar of Geospatial Governance, leading to enhancements in public service delivery, faster emergency response and a significant boost to logistics efficiency.

The DIGIPIN layer will act as the addressing reference system which can be used for logically locating addresses with directional properties built into it due to the logical naming pattern followed in its construction.

The DIGIPIN is proposed to be fully available in the public domain and can be easily accessed by everyone. The DIGIPIN Grid system being an addressing referencing system, can be used as the base layer for other ecosystems, including various service providers and utilities, where addressing is one of the processes in the workflow.

This system will act as a strong and robust pillar of Geospatial Governance, leading to enhancements in public service delivery, faster emergency response and a significant boost to logistics efficiency.

The advent of DIGIPIN will mark a revolutionary step in India’s journey towards digital transformation by bridging the crucial gap between physical locations and their digital representation.

The Department has released a beta version of National Addressing Grid ‘DIGIPIN’ on 19.07.2024 for public feedback, the details of which may be accessed through the India Post website: https://www.indiapost.gov.in/vas/Pages/digipin.aspx

The Department of Post in collaboration with MyGov cordially invites you to explore the beta platform and provide constructive feedback, which will help in fine tuning the specifications of the DIGIPIN.

Digipin बहुत ही उन्नत ढंग से विकसित तकनिक है इसे और अधिक व्यवहारिक बनाने के लिए कुछ सुझाव निम्न हैं 1. भूमध्य रेखा से दूर जानें पर, पहाड़ों या घाटियों में वास्तविक क्षेत्रफल सेटेलाइट से प्रदर्शित क्षेत्रफल से भिन्न होता है इसे ध्यान में रखा जाय 2. जिस प्रकार समूद्र में एक्सक्लूसिव इकोनोमिक जोन के तहत स्थल से समुद्र में 200 नॉटिकल मील दूरी को भी इसने शामिल किया गया है वैसे ही भारत की सीमा से 50km की स्थलीय अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सीमा भी इसमें शामिल किया जाए ताकी भविष्य में प्राकृतिक आपदा के समय तुरन्त सहायता पहुंचाई जा सकें

As an employee in India Post, we usually see various problems like, an area is located nearby other Post office and delivery of this particular area belongs to other post office. Hope Digipin could solve the problem.

Pvt couriers , technology has rightly destroyed the Indian Post. Time to ask for hisab of all those who slept and looted it bade aaram se all through the years.. is there a point in reviving it in the same manner. You have converted into a bank , think of adding e commerce, or post offices acting as collection points teaching centres , foreign exchange, tickets -- basically a kiosk . Valuation centres for post collectors. where are the sites.. Origina post is extinct- so make it earn for vintage -- atleast a corpse can be seen unlike dinosaur. Better future lies ahead in Global south where post can compete with global players. if there is scope or all missed be it rail, pharma, bus, bank & even UPI- not seen it yet . should have minted money and soft power. Pray how many airplaines does India post have & compare it with DHL etc. stop lutaoing Hindu$ here. There should not be 1 paisa subsidy .

Digipin is a new feature for postal depetment.it has fully secured and high-tech system for postal sector.it has a time to modernise postal sector and given fast and accurate service for public.it has a revolutionary changes in history of postal department.
