India is among 51 countries to sign the “Rome Declaration” on “Achieving Self-sufficiency in Safe Blood and blood products based voluntary non-remunerated donation”. Blood is an intrinsic requirement for health care and proper functioning of the health system. National AIDS Control Organization under Department of Health and Family Welfare has been primarily responsible for ensuring provision of safe blood for the country since 1992. National Blood Policy 2003 reiterates firmly the government’s commitment to provide safe and adequate quantity of blood, blood components and blood products.

However, in India, a needy patient or his relatives have to run from pillar to post in search of blood and the onus of procurement of blood still lies with the patient and not with the service provider.

Suggestions are invited on how to develop a nationally coordinated and well networked blood transfusion service in the country and reach 100% voluntary blood donation to enable us to meet the global goal of self sufficiency in blood and blood products.

i guess healthy india also denoted healthy and peaceful mind.but current proposal regarding reduction in retirement age creates a lot of tensions as major part of central gov. employees comes under MIG & LIG so they have planned their retiremnt accordingly. but a sudden decision at 11th hr. will led them to mental and financial disbalance. gov. should annouce it with the prior notice of 4-5 years. hope for a positive response from our gov.

Earmark small 10’X10’ room in EWS, MIG, HIG colonies. Grant power/raw water connection on suitable rates. Encourage entrepreneurs to install, own and operate RO+UV plants for captive consumption within the community selling water at 30-35p/ltr. It'll save water and cost to buy standalone domestic purifiers by many and provide safe drinking water to rest few @

Dear Prime Minister It pained when I see investment in all other projects than Safe Drinking Water. Many people suffer due to unsafe water. All people including remote people require safe drinking water and its requirement is only 5L / day / person. People will be happy to pay for it. DJB has developed Water ATMs.

Since there is shortage of doctors in India and hence the hospitals, why cant Govt facilitate every big private hospitals such as Apollo, Fortis, Lilavati, Beachcandy, Kokilaben etc to open a medical college in Govt-private partnership to solve this problem. Opening a medical college by these private hospitals will add value to them making them educational institutes of higher standing and moreover, they already have the faculty, manpower and money to run a medical college. Sir recently i donated blood in govt. hospital. I saw a person who was with the patient who came to the doctor and said the parient needs no blood anymore and i wants to return it. The doctor said i cant take it back. The the man said what should i do now. The doctor said throw it in the dustbin. I mean if there is so much blood in the govt. blood banks that they cant take it back then why should we donate it.
