The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has been mandated by the TRAI Act, 1997 to regulate the tariffs offered by the Telecom Service Provider for its various services. The telecommunications sector in India has witnessed several changes in the past few years in terms of the tariff offerings of various telecom service providers. This has not only resulted in an exponential increase in the use of telecom services but has also resulted in the tariffs of telecom services in India being amongst the lowest in the world.

In the last few months, many concerns have been raised about the health of the Indian telecom sector and the need to fix a floor price for telecom services. TRAI has so far observed a policy of forbearance in respect of telecom tariffs for valid reasons. It gives the service providers the freedom and flexibility to design their tariff offerings as per the demands of the market. It gives free play to the forces of healthy competition and has resulted in an exponential growth in the Indian telecom sector in the past two decades. Most economists also advise against market interventions by the regulator in tariff fixation.

However, ensuring the provision of ever-increasing data consumption and a good Quality of Service requires a lot of investment in maintaining and improving telecom infrastructure. Fast pace of technological changes in the sector require huge capital investments. Telecom sector is the infrastructure provider for many other sectors of the economy. Thus, making sure that the telecom sector remains healthy and its orderly growth are equally important.

Considering this aspect, a consultation paper on “Tariff Issues of Telecom Services” has been issued on 17th December, 2019 to invite comments from all the stakeholders, on various issues relating to tariff in telecom sector.

The consultation paper on “Tariff Issues of Telecom Services” has been uploaded on TRAI’s website (www.trai.gov.in). The written comments on the issues raised in the consultation paper are invited from the stakeholders by 17th January, 2020 and counter-comments by 31st January, 2020.

we are very sad today because we are unable to develop indigenous 5g network. Today Vietnam announced they are developed indigenous 5G network. India is second largest internet user but we don't have any technology to develop indigenous 5g network.😭😭

In the interest of the nation the government should give more priority to the govt. companies because these companies are run by the govt. and are responsible to the government.

As per my suggestion Trai should focus on regulation rather than market because will act according to it's force .Government should reduce tarrif charges and support the industry because industry is suffering from debts and the AGR issue should be further extended to give time to companies so that will able to sustain other wise there will be Monopoly in the market this will be not in the interest of the gov.and people .Trai should bring competiveness and consistent in his policy .

ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों में दूरसंचार सेवाओं का विस्तार करने की आवश्यकता है और सभी कंपनियों को अपनी सेवाएं विश्वशनीय बनाने की कोशिश करने की आवश्यकता है

हमारे मुख्यमंत्री जी ने किसानों के 200000 का कर्ज माफ किया एवं किसानों ने सरकार से ऋण लिया इसलिए किसानों का 200000 का कर्ज माफ किया गया एवं किसानों के पास जमीन है वह तो लेंगे पर गरीबों का कर्ज़ नहीं देखा सरकार को गरीब भी तो अपना खर्च और कर्ज विवाह शादी मैं लेता होगा सरकार से ना सही पर किसी से तो लेता होगा गरीब का कर्ज माफ क्यों नहीं किया गया क्या आमिर ही उधार लेता है गरीबों ने भी कर्ज लिया है कुछ सरकार का भी लिया हुआ है कुछ लेन दारो का भी कृपया महोदय जी से निवेदन है गरीब की भी समस्या समझें और

आज संचार समाज का अंग बन चुकी जिसके बिना भविष्य की कल्पना नहीं की जा सकती है। आज संचार में नई-नई तकनीक आती जा रही है तो आज छोटा से छोटा काम में भी संचार की जरूरत पढ रही है लेकिन जिस तरह हम संचार पर निर्भर हो रहे उससे कई जटिल समस्याऐं उत्पन्न हो रही है जिनके लिए सराकर को ठोस कदम उठाने चाहिए। आज कम्पनी अपने मन माने ढंग से टैरिफ बड़ा रही है। जिनपर भारतीय दूरसंचार नियामक प्राधिकरण का नियंत्रण होना चाहिए तथा साथ में तकनीक को गलत दुरूपयोग न हो इसके लिए एक आयोग गठन करना चाहिए जिसका प्रभाव आने वाले समय प
