Provide students with lockers to keep their own clean uniforms and equipment in the school premises. Students must be taught clean habits in the curriculum - such as taking a shower/bath before coming to school, eating food without making a mess of it, sharing everything with each other, treating each other as equals, pride in being an Indian, keeping the school and surroundings clean and reprimanding those who make a mess. Shcools must institute "cleanliness" awards to students.

First of all , School surrounding should be kept clean. Put Dustbins at appropiate places in the school. Teach students from day one to dump any waste in dustbins. One can also try some sort of punishment. Children learn very quickly..if they see cleanliness everyhere from day one..they get only used to that. Teachers just have to remind this cleanliness thing everyday.

students must be taught the importance of healthy environment then they can easily get the point of cleanliness, reduction of wastage at home level, avoidance of plastic bags and so on. schools can make it in curriculum as extra curricular activity scheduled weekly. schools can include visits to areas where cleanliness has already done, it will motivate them to do like wise. curriculum must include small practicals.

I don't like cleanliness made as "EVENT", its habit. For building habits, you need deterrence, Let there be heavy penalty and habit will get imbibed automatically. I have seen mothers asking child not to litter on London roads and throws litter directly from her Innova when she reached Mumbai.... Punish Punish and heavily Punish....

Japanese school during starting years instead of curriculum Important civil responsibilities are not only taught but imbibed. Students clean their own school, fix their own school issues. This makes them social initiator and most important parents support the idea of cleaning own school and area around and don't undermine idea of making children socially responsible.
