I recently saw a signboard that said "Pick one piece of Trash a day" in the city that i live in. I thought that such a campaign could increase awareness and pride in keeping things clean.

make this as important subject in school curriculum. Knowing facts, reasons and effects of world war 2 is not important as health issues, good discipline, and cleanliness for students of std 5 through 10. if they understand it thoroughly whole India will change forever.

We are all collectively responsible for a clean India. If each one of us takes up responsibility to keep our surroundings clean we will achieve a clean India in a matter of few hours. To address this problem our leaders need to set an example by "shram daan". Everyone should contribute 1 hour on Gandhi Jayanti to personally participate in a cleanliness drive and personally clean up garbage in their surroundings. A media campaign needs to be launched to raise awareness levels about cleanliness and civic sense. Most of the times we see lack of proper facilities to collect garbage. Containers don't have any lids and garbage does not get collected for many days. Municipalities need to use efficient means to collect, transport, dispose garbage. There has to be a easy way for citizens to complain if they find issues with this process. For example a portal to post pictures of uncollected garbage or filthy roads etc. Long term solution for this is to develop a deep sense of cleanliness at an early age in schools by involving students in cleaning up their class rooms and surrounding of their schools.

Instead of looking at Cleanliness let emphasis be on Health. I suppose a spurious measure rather That must back-fire & increase awareness like Wild-Fire. I intend to educate by using Fear ! If we Chart out a list of Patients in month of Monsoon from a particular area on Typhoid & elephantiasis. (The Chart Board may have a known Dr.'s attestation) Immediately the Fear will put & act as pressure amid the otherwise indifferent Public to force the Govt, pvt officers to act quickly on Cleaning it !

1. Need a wave across India like Namo did for election campaign. 2. Involve regional celebrities and popular social activists to bring awareness 3. TV ads. All channels should broadcast it daily. 4. Include it in school syllabus 5. Start street cleaning programs like UK. 6. Come up with one time approach and regular cleaning programs for rural and urban India 7. Strict fines 8. Complaints capture, fine and resolutions with channels for easy public participation. (Toll free, Mobile Apps)

From KASHMIR to KANYAKUMARI, Let's campaign for ONE INDIA...CLEAN INDIA...GREEN INDIA thru' our famous celebrities of every state...Bachchans, Tendulkars, Khans, Kants, Naiwals, Lals, Kalyans et al. Idea would very well work, if we involve aam janta to VIPs, all agencies, from top to bottom, Parliament to Panchayat, Central to State Govt, IIT to ITI, College to School, PSUs to Pvt. Industries. The Best Way to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary with a special focus on cleanliness is to "Clean all the Corrupt & Irresponsible Officers from the system ; who cannot abide to the rules and regulations framed by their own body to maintain Cleanliness & thus are unable to perform their duties diligently !! "Waste recycling compulsory in all rural and urban areas" This will also help in production of electricity using waste and creating awareness campaigns in rural areas about cleanliness and usage of toilets.Construction of toilets in rural areas and implementing fines for urinating in public areas in rural areas will make them to use toilets effectively and the above are also to be implemented in urban area.Because although there is enough knowledge among people there is no proper cleanliness.

Railway is one of the major sights which reflect the general level of cleanliness. At least in Tier 1/2 cities, this can be implemented Below will result in cleanliness as well as generate revenue for Railway 1. Keep Dustbins at very short intervals 2. Impose fine on anyone throwing garbage here & there 3. Outsource this job with 50-50 profit sharing ( helps save any investment ) 4. Install LCD panels, show videos of people littering with messages ( Are you among one of them ? )
