The Income Tax Department invites constructive suggestions from citizens, taxpayers, professionals, businesses, and other stakeholders to strengthen its Citizen Charter and make it more transparent, citizen-centric, accessible, and responsive to the evolving needs of taxpayers.

The Citizen Charter reflects the Department's commitment towards delivering quality taxpayer services by defining service standards, timelines, taxpayer rights, and responsibilities. As part of its continuous efforts to improve taxpayer experience in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, the Department seeks practical suggestions and innovative ideas to further enhance the Citizen Charter.

Suggestions may be submitted on, but are not limited to, the following areas:

Improving taxpayer services and service standards.
Simplifying taxpayer interactions with the Income Tax Department.
Enhancing transparency, accountability, and service delivery.
Strengthening grievance redressal mechanisms.
Improving accessibility for senior citizens, women, persons with disabilities, and first-time taxpayers.
Promoting digital service delivery and ease of compliance.
Making the Citizen Charter easier to understand through simplified language and better communication.
Any other suggestions that can make the Income Tax Department more citizen-friendly, efficient, and responsive.

Respected Sir or Madam or Team, The existing ITR portal is fine, except the fact that the language could be multilingual. Ideally those who have access to ATM should have access to ITR portal. The fact is the willingness to file or is it fine to skip it or is it really mandatory to file. Separately, accessibility is different from using and adhering or learning. Using needs user manual tutorials. Those who are genuinely seeing and appreciating the movies which shows an overnight and over a song change in economy or even a growth in individual lives, will understand the below facts. Public needs awareness of What Happens to the TDS,TCS,GST, Customs and Exercise after paid by public Funding for State’s and Central’s Schemes, Welfare program, National Security, repaying government’s borrowing, relief operations, compensations, retired government employees welfare, the research and development, fulfilling the responsibilities in Union Territories, aiding and extend helping hand

Letters and notices sent to taxpayers should be in the state language or the taxpayer's mother tongue. Ordinary people often struggle to comprehend financial terminology used in the official language. Communicating with taxpayers in their recognized state language or mother tongue—especially when they lack proficiency in the official language—would bring greater clarity to tax collection proceedings. Taxpayers should be given the option to select their preferred language of communication at the time of submitting applications. Correspondence, such as letters and notices, should be sent in the taxpayer's requested language alongside the official language. Notices regarding outstanding tax dues must be issued on a quarterly basis. Waiting until the end of the financial year creates opportunities for tax evasion and leaves innocent people vulnerable to adverse consequences.
