The Income Tax Department invites constructive suggestions from citizens, taxpayers, professionals, businesses, and other stakeholders to strengthen its Citizen Charter and make it more transparent, citizen-centric, accessible, and responsive to the evolving needs of taxpayers.

The Citizen Charter reflects the Department's commitment towards delivering quality taxpayer services by defining service standards, timelines, taxpayer rights, and responsibilities. As part of its continuous efforts to improve taxpayer experience in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, the Department seeks practical suggestions and innovative ideas to further enhance the Citizen Charter.

Suggestions may be submitted on, but are not limited to, the following areas:

      • Improving taxpayer services and service standards.
      • Simplifying taxpayer interactions with the Income Tax Department.
      • Enhancing transparency, accountability, and service delivery.
      • Strengthening grievance redressal mechanisms.
      • Improving accessibility for senior citizens, women, persons with disabilities, and first-time taxpayers.
      • Promoting digital service delivery and ease of compliance.
      • Making the Citizen Charter easier to understand through simplified language and better communication.
      • Any other suggestions that can make the Income Tax Department more citizen-friendly, efficient, and responsive.

Your valuable suggestions will contribute towards strengthening taxpayer services, promoting trust, and building a transparent, efficient, and citizen-centric tax administration.

There should be a simple way to claim TDS even if PAN was not available during deduction Now we have to request the deductor revise their statment after PAN is issued. But sometimes they decline such requests and we don't get that TDS back.

My suggestion is to introduce a “Taxpayer Service Guarantee” under the Citizen Charter. Every communication from the Income Tax Department should clearly state: what action is required, why it is required, the last date, the expected processing time, and the next step. A single “My Tax Service” dashboard could show ITR status, refund, notices, responses, payments, grievances, deadlines and pending actions in one place. For every grievance or service request, taxpayers should receive a unique tracking number, a committed resolution timeline and an automatic escalation if the timeline is exceeded. The portal should also provide simple explanations of notices in plain language, along with multilingual support and an AI-based assistant for common queries. This will reduce confusion, repeated submissions and dependence on intermediaries, while improving transparency, accountability and trust between taxpa

A Citizen Charter is a promise by the government to deliver services in a time-bound, transparent, and citizen-friendly manner. For taxpayer services, this means putting the taxpayer at the center and ensuring dignity, ease, and accountability. To build better services, we need clear timelines for ITR processing, refunds, and grievance resolution. All communication should be faceless and digital to avoid harassment and ensure fairness. A single dashboard can help taxpayers track the status of returns, notices, and payments in real time.Taxpayer education is also important. Simple guides, multilingual helpdesks, and AI chatbots can make compliance easier for everyone, especially small businesses and first-time filers. Feedback mechanisms should be strengthened so citizens can rate services and suggest improvements.By inviting suggestions for the Citizen Charter, the government can co-create a system based on trust. When services are prompt, respectful, and transparent,

      4. Senior citizens or other people who don't have online access can depend on auditors for filing, or their family to help out. This way everyone can do online better way.

Some suggestions. 1. People can understand the economic improvement from 10 to 5 in 12 years. This shows the progress and incometax is used in proper way. No corruption. Same trend goes well can reach Viksit Bharath easily. The incometax collected is used in proper ways. That is good for us.
