How do you think we can further change our outlook and attitude towards the specially-abled? What efforts do we need to take in bringing them to the mainstream?

Barrier Free Access for the disabled!? If the Practicing architects don't know the building code and then the builders and municipal authorities ignore the National Building code then there will be no progress. Disabled people are excluded because of the complacency of the local planning authorities don't reject building plans which are do not have proper design for wheelchair access and then they give completion certificates when these illegal designs are constructed.

All the children having special need should be provided inclusive education in schools. Especially the Kendriya vidyalayas should be adviced to admit such children in their schools. However, KVs should also have the facility of special educators, speech therapist & other required staff in their schools. Merely taking admission doesn't fulfil the need. KVs should be clearly notified in this regard. I enquired from KV Sanghathan in this regard & they don't have the knowledge abt this.

Creating empathy is the key. In our schools particularly rural schools, the differently abled are made fun of and those who are marginal are accused of shamming by teachers and many times parents too. Why not create an emporium where you can experience what it means to be blind or deaf etc?

To ensure we bring them to mainstream - We will have to ensure whether we have transportation which is convenient for them, Is special Education available and is affordable?, Is medical health care and employment opportunities available for the differently abled. Ensuring that these all are available will ensure they live life the way anyone else lives and that should change the outlook towards them

small steps in way of thinking of govt and people will change diff. abled more drastic way...like why we have to take permission from doctor to make our driving licence, couldn't we just go to driving test like everybody does or we have to face humiliation in govt hospital...like why we have to produce medical certificate for filling govt job like for clerk...is it necessary that doctor will tell us that whether you can type or not.just take the test like you does for everybody give equal chance
