The State Transport Authority (STA), U.T., Chandigarh has initiated a citywide enforcement campaign against the illegal and pollution causing vehicles, especially diesel auto-rickshaws that had been plying in the city. This drive had been initiated in the entire city to take a firm step towards creating a pollution free environment in the city, keeping in mind the larger public health concerns of the residents.

As per the latest data submitted by the Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee (CPCC), there has been a significant decline in the various pollutants including SPM, RSPM, SO2, and NOx in various places of Chandigarh being monitored by CPCC over the past two weeks, ever since the drive was started by the State Transport Authority.

Meanwhile, to facilitate passenger movement, Chandigarh Administration is also strengthening its public transport system, by increasing the number & frequency of buses of the Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU) and also enhancing their routes.

In view of this recent anti-pollution campaign of the State Transport Authority, Chandigarh Administration hereby invites citizens of Chandigarh to tell us what is their opinion about the banning of illegal and pollution causing diesel auto-rickshaws in Chandigarh. Further, suggestions/ideas are invited from the residents to help us ensure that a clean and pollution free air is provided in the City Beautiful.

That is the great step by chandigarh administration to ban the Diesal Autos as they were causing pollution and also traffic jam usually. And most of the times they do park the autos on roadside to create traffic jams. But one thing more I want to suggest that even to LPG Auto Drivers that there should be training program for them too and learn them the rules and regulations. Once they pass the test only than they can drive in Chandigarh.

I've been using Auto from past 2 years regularly. --Total ban on all diesel autos is not the best step coz a good quality(engine)diesel auto is just like any other diesel car entering the city (whereas auto is indirect carpooling),so why to unemploy the people who keep their auto always repaired. --I think all those Autos should be strictly challaned whose service is pending or those which have reached their lifetime(including lpg and CTU buses). -It can easily be done by the policemen.

It is a good step to prevent diesel auto-rickshaws to ply in the city. But a wider reform against diesel engines is needed. Diesel cars also cause a lot more pollution compared to petrol cars. Thus, to be completely fair and just, the administration must take steps to get rid of diesel cars in Chandigarh, and not stop at auto-rickshaws.

The steps taken up by STA to ban on diesel autos to be very effective for the health of citizens and especially for school going children. It is also noticed that LPG auto operators are also use to modify their LPG engine into diesel, which is also required to identify. The entry of punjab and Haryana autos in chd. should strictly banned and to facilitate the general public, CTU bus service should be improve, especially on the routes of PGI, sectt. High Court, schools and more buses are required

I implicitly favour ban on three wheeled deisel guzzlers billowing pollutants and choking our lungs."Delhi abhi door hai"is a misconception.Soon, the stark reality would hit us in the face if we fail to make amends now.Generation would recount with scorn, our debauchery and wanton vitiation resulting into incalculable harm we wilfully continue to inflict on the treasured heirloom our forefathers left us,to keep safe and pass on to posterity.Lets exorcise our cherished hometown of this scourge.

Good step taken by Sta by banning illegal running diesel autos in chandigarh Sta should also check taxi running without permit by web base taxis and also prompt cng in chandigarh in ctu buses as Dtdc buses it will also clean more air in city and next step to convert private vehicles to cng instead of diesel

Although I am not a resident of Chandigarh, I can say that this is one of the most effective steps taken by STA in eradicating air pollution from Chandigarh. Diesel vehicles, plying in various places are a menace to the air we breathe. The Centre should nudge all States to follow this and curb pollution.Other steps which should be taken up nationwide are Afforestation,Banning of >15 yr old vehicles, Audit and Technological Upgradation of Auto emission testing centres etc #CPCC #MyGov #CTU
