National Highway Authority of India currently is planning to build a citizen facing interface which can cater to all highway related needs of NH commuters. NHAI already has an Android mobile application called Sukhaad Yatra (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rsawh.nhia&hl=en_IN&gl=US) which needs to be upgraded and advanced further.

Citizens are invited to share their ideas on how the Sukhad Yatra app can be improved with additional features/ integrations to better service the needs of citizens. The end outcome is to improve the experience of NH commuters and build a robust medium of 2-way communication.

The tool will not be limited to but can cover the following areas:
● Informing users of construction and maintenance activities
● Allowing users to register complaints pertaining to the condition of the highway or highway activities such as toll (for eg. If wait times for a toll gate are too long or if FasTag is not working at a gate)
● Allow users to rate highways on various characteristics of the highway around their experience as a rider (on both negative and positive characteristics of experience, for example whether the NH offers a scenic route or view)
● Allow user to access emergency and first response services on the highway
● Allow users to access information on wayside amenities, petrol pumps, EV stations etc. Information about location of facilities along the route can be searched on Google Maps but this is hard to access for non smartphone users.
● Allow users to report traffic congestion, accidents, debris, toll-relates issues, request EV charging points etc to local command centres (Eg. Waze)
● The interface should be able to cater to user-needs of commuters with and without smartphones
● The interface should have a strong focus on UX, intuitive and centred around the day-to-day needs and experience of highway users.

The interface can also operate as a platform through which multiple existing private and public applications can link to such as NH’s toll free number, toll management system etc or travel related apps (MapMyIndia, Google Maps etc) which already have a high user-base. The platform should leverage strengths of existing IT applications and not reinvent where necessary.

The design should cater to all kinds of NH users such as:
● Commercial (trucking etc) who may or may not have a smartphone and a user design which caters to their needs
● Personal long-distance commuter which may not be as frequent but may have access to smartphones
● Local residents who live around the highways and use it more frequently than private long distance commuters

Submissions to this can be in the form of app mock-ups/ prototypes, presentations, concept notes on platform and other interfaces, list of desired features by commuters etc.

Tha last date of submission of ideas is 15th June 2022.

One standard toll free number to be allotted and allow user to register call at the time of need, then to proceed with respective state and location formalities. Call registration should be at one place and all 24 hours service should be attended with responsibility. No deviation in this process. call should end with a resolution matrix from the customer feedback record. Till then it should be ON and keep monitoring for progress by authorities. No new registration is allowed till the old call is closed with proper remarks. If the solutions is not accorded customer or registered user should give proper explanation on their satisfaction with pictures to close the entry. NH should take a step forward in settling Insurance claims as against long pending at courts for settlements. Triparty settlements should be moved, out of court settlements on fast track should be followed for faster results.

As suggested by other fellow members Toll Plaza should be accompanied with emergency facility, Ambulance, 24 hour Doctor or Call doctor NH should ensure to follow rules across the Nation equally Toll fee should also be equal, a bit varience on Ghat sections are allowed. Different fees at different plazas should be avoided. NH should engage private Puncture and Mechanical companies and engage on the NH with indications to travelers with all facilities. The accompanying parties should not depend again going and buying material from nearby places wasting time. Such equipped companies to be engaged on contract with liberal charges and facilitate road users. Information of such should be shared by toll plaza as soon as they cross the plaza with a sms or alert with emergency contact information. Holidays, Week ends telephone attendance should be must by emergency departments, it should not be a lazy call, releasing information due to holiday we are unable to take up.

most of the ACCIDENTS occur due to poor signalling of drivers. while turning or lane change or while parking aside of the road side indicator of the vehicle must be used by drivers. Kindly ensure or make awareness.

NHAI should exempt all Physically Challenged people from paying Toll Fees whenever they travel in National Highways. A special Tag like Fast Tag or Swipe Card has to be issued to all Physically Challenged people with 75% disability. Their UDID Card and Aadhaar number has to be attached to get exemption. Presently there is some restriction in availing exemption. Only specially designed vehicles used by the Physically Challenged people are exempted while other catagory Physically Challenged people have to pay toll. This is a great injustice. Physical Disability condition will vary from person to person. They may travel with their personal escort and they may be traveling in normal vehicle also sometimes. NHAI should consider exempting all genuine Physically Challenged people having UDID Card issued by the Central Government. I request the concerned authorities in NHAI to look into this matter seriously and do the needful to give full exemption from paying Toll Fees across India. Thanks

First of all congratulations Modi ji and ministry of transport to make new record in world for making 75km highway in 105 hours. Now in my suggestion govt should check proper quality of highways carefully most of highways are not good quality they require maintenance in 2-3years and those highways are making of cement concrete is bad for vehicle because they are very hard which makes tyre life less in comparison of dammer highways. In my opinion dammer highways are more comfortable , adjustable to vehicles driving, and less chance of accident. Thankyou

Congratulations to NHAI team for construction of road in record time. It is expected that when a road can be constructed in a record time then it can definitely be repaired in lesser time. Let NHAI team resolve to make all National Highways pothole free in a record time. That would be a great service to nation and helpless road users.
