Digital Locker is one of the key initiatives under the Digital India Programme. A beta version (http://digitallocker.gov.in) of the same has been released on 10th Feb. 2015, by Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), Govt. of India.

Digital Locker is aimed at minimizing the usage of physical documents and enable sharing of e-documents across agencies. The sharing of the e-documents will be done through registered repositories thereby ensuring the authenticity of the documents online. Residents can also upload their own electronic documents and digitally sign them using the e-sign facility. These digitally signed documents can be shared with Government organizations or other entities.

Key features of the Digital Locker System are:

• 10 MB of free space in digital locker to residents to access their documents through Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) and also securely store e-documents.
• e-sign online service to digitally sign documents

Residents are invited to use the Beta version of the Digital Locker System and provide suggestions and feedback on the same. Suggestions are also invited on the use cases for services which can be additionally provided by the Digital Locker System.

I just went for the registrar for registration of Sale deed as i purchased one shop.I found there is no CC TV camera(we should immediately have it)+could not find transparency regarding jantri rate(govt.notified rate). If i had not appointed any agent i won't be able to find the location regarding where should i go.(The best solution could be to appoint 10 agents officially who can guide u to the respective dept). Why can't we have the system the way it is for passport.it would be good for rural

The security of digital locker may be questioned but in today digital age, we should think of innovative ways to secure it and not question the project. The locker login may be linked with 3 step verification process using aadhar number and biometric verification along with maybe mobile OTP or password. The govt must also hire hackers to secure the locker at all times. Microsoft hires 4 hackers daily for 6 hours each for a secure network of 24 hours. We need to think of more ways to secure it.

"Catch Them Young", they say. Let us catch the 12th students. Use the data/ photograph captured for Senior Secondary (Board) Examination Registration for Aadhaar. Biological indicators may also be captured at the time of registration. True, the students are not yet 18 (at the time of registration) and cannot be issued Aadhaar. So use the temporary Aadhaar Acknowledgement no. or the Sen. Sec. Registration number to store/identify the data. Upload the Sen Sec Exam results to this account

We REALLY need to see how secure the digital locker system is. Its a gold mine for hackers. I suggest inviting ethical hackers from around to world to come and expose vulnerabilities of the beta version of the system.
