Digital Locker is one of the key initiatives under the Digital India Programme. A beta version (http://digitallocker.gov.in) of the same has been released on 10th Feb. 2015, by Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), Govt. of India.

Digital Locker is aimed at minimizing the usage of physical documents and enable sharing of e-documents across agencies. The sharing of the e-documents will be done through registered repositories thereby ensuring the authenticity of the documents online. Residents can also upload their own electronic documents and digitally sign them using the e-sign facility. These digitally signed documents can be shared with Government organizations or other entities.

Key features of the Digital Locker System are:

• 10 MB of free space in digital locker to residents to access their documents through Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) and also securely store e-documents.
• e-sign online service to digitally sign documents

Residents are invited to use the Beta version of the Digital Locker System and provide suggestions and feedback on the same. Suggestions are also invited on the use cases for services which can be additionally provided by the Digital Locker System.

the government should start for green cities rather than smart cities.. the idea of green should start from railways itself. there should be solar panels in every local trains and mail trains and railways should start rain water harvesting in platforms. this may saves our 100 crores in electricity bills

I think old one login using Aadhar and OTP was better compare to username and password because people nowadays have so many username and password to remember. And it also secured. Security is must for Digital Locker. My dad tried on his smartphone and he find this system easier. Now lets see how it goes with mom! Good job DigiLocker Team :)

Well done Mr. Suresh Prabhu. This rail budget is really a well balanced and excellently planned budget. I am so glad that you have focused on improving the quality if the services, rather than to just introduce new trains and factories to please the allies. This step will truly help in improving the railways.
