To generate awareness about the importance of the handloom industry and its contribution to the socio-economic development of the country, 7th August is celebrated every year as “National Handloom Day". August 7 was chosen as the National Handloom Day to commemorate the Swadeshi Movement which was launched on this day in 1905 in the Calcutta Town hall. The first National Handloom Day was inaugurated on 7th August 2015 by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi at the Centenary Hall of Madras University in Chennai.
To commemorate the 9th Anniversary of National Handloom Day with an aim to encourage & motivate the Start-Ups and Entrepreneurs /agencies of the handloom sector, they may be requested to share their journey/story of Entrepreneurship Development. With this background, we call all these agencies to share their Entrepreneurship Development Stories through their experiences, innovations, and good practices.
Willing Handloom entities can share your story in textual format along with relevant photographs (as per need). The participants may upload a PDF of their Stories for this activity on the MyGoV Platform.
