The aim of this task is to receive ground level and objective feedback on the working of an ITI or Polytechnic. For the participant, the task gives him or her a first hand ground view on the functioning of an ITI/ Polytechnic and at the same time enables the ITI to get enriched by the expertise brought by the participant. T his feedback would be beneficial for the Government in enhancing the network, courses and other aspects related to ITIs.

DGET FIELD INSTITUTES & STATE ITIs SHOULD INTRODUCE EMPLOYABLE VOCATIONAL TRAINING PROGRAMS FOR RESETTLEMENT OF RETIRING DEFENCE PERSONNEL FROM THE TECHNICAL CORPS LIKE EME, MES, ENGINEERS, ETC. THESE PERSONNEL HAVE PROBLEMS OF GETTING JOBS AFTER RETIREMENT & SO WE CAN PROVIDE 3 TO 6 MONTHS TRAINING IN THEIR RESPECTIVE FIELD. THIS PROGRAM WILL HELP THEM TO ENRICH THEIR SKILLS WHICH THEY USUALLY HAVE NOT ACQUIRED DURING THEIR DUTY. AFTER THIS TRAINING THEY CAN GET THE JOB OR START START OWN WORK.

TODAY MOST OF THE PRODUCT MANUFACTURERS (E.G. AUTOMOTIVE, APPLIANCES, ETC) ARE NOT HAVING TRAINING INFRA & SPACE IN THE MAIN CITIES. SO THEIR SERVICE TECHNICIANS ARE GOING TO THEIR COMPANY TRAINING CENTRE WHICH IS FAR AWAY FROM DEALERS POINT & ALSO IN THE REMOTE PLACE & THUS TIME CONSUMING & COSTLIER AFFAIR. HENCE, AVTS TRAINING PROGRAMS OF DGET & STATE DETs SHOULD OPEN THE DOORS FOR PRIVATE MANUFACTURERS FOR CONDUCTING THEIR "NEW PRODUCT TRG PROGRAMS" & "PRODUCT UP-GRADATION TRG PROGRAMS".

MAIN OBJECTIVE OF "NATIONAL EMPLOYABILITY ENHANCEMENT MISSION" (NEEM) OF AICTE, NEW DELHI IS TO OFFER "ON-THE-JOB PRACTICAL TRAINING" TO INCREASE THE EMPLOYABILITY OF PASSED/FAILED/DISCONTINUED DIPLOMA AND DEGREE ENGINEERS. VOCATIONAL TRAINING INSTITUTES UNDER DGET, GOIAND VARIOUS STATE GOVT SHOULD COMPULSORILY JOIN THIS NEEM MISSION FOR SKILL DEVELOPMENT OF OUR ENGINEERS AND REVENUE GENERATION FOR THEIR INSTITUTES.

MOST OF THE ENGINEERING COLLEGES HAVE POOR WORKSHOP INFRASTRUCTURE & SHORTAGE OF SKILLED FACULTIES. DGET INSTITUTES, CLASS-I ITIs & ALSO DEGREE & DIPLOMA ENGG COLLEGES ARE LOCATED IN CITIES. DGET INSTITUTES & ITIs IMPLEMENTING AVTS & COE PROGRAMS SHOULD JOIN THESE ENGG COLLEGES & START REVENUE GENERATION BY PROVIDING ENGG STUDENTS -
1. PERIODICAL PRACTICAL GUIDANCE FOR COMPLETING LAB TASKS
2. FINAL PROJECT GUIDANCE & ASSISTANCE
3. INDUSTRIAL EXPERIENCE & EXPOSURE TO INCULCATE EMPLOYABLE SKILLS.

VET INSTITUTES UNDER GOI & VARIOUS STATE GOVT ARE CONDUCTING 40 TO 50 YEAR OLD SHORT-TERM COURSES UNDER THE SCHEME OF "ADVANCED VOCATIONAL TRAINING SYSTEM (AVTS)". INSTEAD, IT IS ESSENTIAL TO INTRODUCE PRESENT DAY ADVANCE TECHNOLOGY APPEARED WITHIN THE LAST 10 TO 15 YEARS ONLY. MOREOVER FOR IMPARTING THESE AVTS TRAINING PROGRAMS GOVT TVET INSTITUTES SHOULD INVITE SKILLED, KNOWLEDGEABLE & EXPERIENCED PERSONS WORKING IN INDUSTRY AS GUEST LECTURERS OR ON DEPUTATION FOR EFFECTIVE SKILL DEVELOPMENT.

Considering the financial background & day-to-day difficulties of the ITI's, we need to follow Professional Approach. All the ITI's should be converted into Production/Service-cum-Trg Centres for Self-Sustainability as well as to provide more & more on site live practice to the trainees which will lead towards perfect skill development due to more practice. If we aim at excellent skill development useful for "Entrepreneurship Development" then at least we can produce "Industry Ready Talents"

sir i agree with that polytechnic and iti education is most creative and budgeted. but since from last 5 years there is no value in the industry sector for students from iti and polytechnic. industry doesnt gave entry to freshers. so where the freshers goes. and for dilpoma holder the monthly income is jst 5-6000 rs. if they got tht such less amount thn why students goes for techanical education. if govt makes a rule for all company to fix a income rate thn the standard increases

Grasping level of ITI trainees is very low. Blackboard, PPT, Films, Animations, etc Teaching & Learning Aids are less effective for ITI. So for effective understanding & longer retaining ITI's should use Learning Aids like -
1. Actual Objects & their Cut Sections
2. Motorised Working Models
3. Effective Demonstration Performance by the Instructional Staff like Chef
4. Imitation/First Trial Job by the individual Trainee
5. Finally, on site live Repetition of the job by the individual trainee

ITI & Polytechnic Institutes in city like Pune has enough talented boys . I used to prefer them over graduate engineers. My observation was they are hands on and understands fast. More practical and dedicated. Since the job market has shifted to GRAD students and proilification of engg collages all over the places with Politicians are running them as money making machines ( With Cash Donations) More regulations needs to be imposed and Job Readiness is needed. Due to lack of operating knowledge, most of the costlier machines like CNC, FIP, Electrical Test Benches, and many more purchased in all the ITIs under VTIP thru World Bank are kept idle from the date of their purchases. So it is essential to make provision of effective training program thru the concerned machine manufactures for the teaching staff involved in VET. Same time supplier/Manufacturer should supply relevant Training Booklets, Workbooks and User-Friendly Manuals for the ITI's.
