The inauguration of SEMICON India 2026 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi, with the theme “Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem,” is a significant step towards strengthening India’s position in the global semiconductor industry. In my view, this event highlights how important semiconductor technology has become in our daily lives, as chips are essential for smartphones, computers, automobiles, medical equipment, artificial intelligence and many other modern technologies. The theme shows that India’s goal is not only to manufacture semiconductor chips but also to develop a complete ecosystem involving research, innovation, chip design, manufacturing, testing, skilled talent and global partnerships. This can create new opportunities for young Indians and encourage students to learn more about science, technology, engineering and innovation. I believe that developing a strong semiconductor industry can also strengthen India’s technological capabilities and reduce depe
