Ministry of New and Renewable Energy
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India, is the nodal agency at the central level for promotion of grid-connected and off-grid renewable energy in the country, with programmes implemented in close coordination with State Nodal Agencies (SNAs) for renewable energy.
The Ministry's work is supported by institutions and undertakings including the National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE), the Sardar Swaran Singh National Institute of Renewable Energy (SSS-NIBE), the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA), a 'Navratna' financial institution for renewable energy projects, and the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI), a Schedule-A CPSE for implementation of renewable energy schemes.
