About Doordarshan at 67
Launched on 15 September 1959, Doordarshan completes 67 years on 15 September 2026. From its modest beginnings in Delhi, it has grown into one of India’s largest broadcasting organisations and an integral part of the country’s collective memory. Over the decades, Doordarshan has brought families together through meaningful entertainment, reliable information and educational programming, reflecting India’s aspirations, achievements and cultural diversity.
Through its extensive network of national, regional and specialised channels and Kendras, Doordarshan serves audiences across languages and regions. Its programming encompasses entertainment, culture, agriculture, education, sports and major national events. DD Free Dish and digital platforms further extend its reach to viewers in urban, rural and remote areas.
Celebrating DD@67 with Viewers
Doordarshan’s 67th anniversary is an opportunity to celebrate its enduring relationship with viewers while introducing its evolving content to new audiences. “Selfie with Doordarshan” would encourage people to watch DD National, discover its programmes and share their viewing experience.
The distinctive feature of the contest is its direct link to television viewing: participants would watch a programme on DD National, take a selfie with the programme visible on their television screen, and submit it along with the programme’s name and date of telecast. This would bring together nostalgia, active viewing and digital participation.
Participation and Submission Guidelines
Participants would be required to:
1. Watch a serial or programme on DD National during the contest period.
2. Take an original selfie with the programme and DD National channel identity clearly visible on the television screen.
3. Upload the selfie on the designated MyGov contest page, mentioning the name of the serial/programme, date of telecast and date of the selfie.
4. Optionally, add a short caption sharing their viewing experience, a favourite Doordarshan programme or a cherished memory associated with the broadcaster.
Selection and Recognition
A designated jury would select ten winners based on the authenticity, creativity and relevance of their entries. The winners would be invited to Doordarshan’s studios in New Delhi and featured in the Doordarshan Morning Show on DD National, giving them an opportunity to share their experiences and become part of the broadcaster’s anniversary celebrations.
