Key Highlights of the Address Grassroots Talent Scouting: Praised the Khelo India scheme for reaching remote districts and uncovering hidden athletic potential. Infrastructure Boom: Emphasized the rapid modernization of stadiums, training facilities, and sports science centers across tier-2 and tier-3 cities. Holistic Support Systems: Underscored the importance of financial backing through the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) and dedicated mentorship for young prodigies. Grassroots sports infrastructure, especially in rural and semi-urban areas, needs sustained investment so talent isn't limited by geography. I would also urge greater emphasis on: quality coaches and sports science support at the district level, scholarships and career transition support for athletes after their playing years, encouraging more women and para-athletes to participate through targeted programs, and better integration of sports with school curriculums to build a fitness culture early on. Khelo India has already made a visible impact in identifying and nurturing talent.
