Ministry of Mines
The Ministry of Mines, Government of India, is responsible for survey and exploration of all minerals, other than natural gases, petroleum and atomic minerals.
The Ministry maintains information on the National Mineral Policy and State Mineral Policy, and oversees coordination on mineral concessions through bodies such as the Central Co-ordination cum Empowered Committee (CEC) and the Mineral Concession System. It also provides details of ongoing and new mining-related projects undertaken under its purview.
The Ministry has the Indian Bureau of Mines as a subordinate office, and public sector undertakings such as Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL), Mineral Exploration Corporation Limited (MECL), and National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO).
