The District Administration Baghpat invites citizens, youth, innovators and institutions from across India on MyGov to share innovative and practical ideas to transform the Shri Parshurameshwar Pura Mahadev Mahashivratri Mela into a Zero Waste Mahotsav on theme “Bhakti Bhi, Prakriti Bhi”.

Building on the successful implementation of a Zero Waste model during Falguni Mahashivratri 2026 celebrations, this initiative aims to further strengthen sustainable practices and develop Baghpat as a model for green and responsible religious gatherings in India.

Aligned with the vision of Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), Swachh Bharat and sustainable tourism, the initiative promotes environmentally responsible behaviour, reduction of waste, resource efficiency and community participation in large public events.

What kind of ideas are we looking for?
      1. Participants are encouraged to submit practical, scalable and innovative ideas in areas such as:
      a. Waste management and zero waste systems
      b. Plastic-free alternatives for melas and religious events
      c. Eco-friendly materials and green infrastructure
      d. Awareness campaigns and behavioural change strategies
      e. Volunteer and youth engagement models
      f. Use of technology (apps, QR-based services, monitoring systems, etc.)
      g. Sustainable tourism and visitor management

      How to participate?
      1. Submit your idea in maximum 200–300 words
      2. Focus on solutions that can be practically implemented on ground
      3. You may include examples, models or case references

What will happen to your ideas?
Selected ideas will be reviewed by the District Administration and considered for implementation during the Shravani Mahashivratri Mela scheduled in second week of August 2026. Selected contributions may also be recognised as part of a district-led innovation initiative and documented as good practices.

This is an opportunity to contribute to building a national model of sustainable religious events, promote environmental responsibility, and strengthen citizen participation in governance. Your ideas can help demonstrate how tradition, technology and sustainability can work together for a better future.

My idea is that We can use Old Dried Flowers ,Which had been offered to God ,The flowers can be used in a way to make natural Sugandhit Dhoop/ Agarbatti By Crushing those flowers, mixing with kapoor and various other elements that are needed to make dhoop solid and sugandhit. In this way the Pooja of God is also done and the old flowers will again be recycled to make such a useful product, Which would again can be used in Pooja. It would help in waste reduction and also offer naturality to God.

Bhakti Bhi Prakriti Bhi can become successful by making the mela fully plastic free Food stalls should use leaf and paper items Separate bins for wet dry and religious waste should be placed across the mela Local students and volunteers can guide visitors about cleanliness QR codes can help with directions and waste reporting Flower and food waste can be converted into compost This can make the mela clean green and a model for sustainable religious events in India

Sir, I am working on a project in which we will run vehicles on 100% ethanol and after making ethanol, we can also get energy by making methane from the leftover bagasse and the parali and plastic waste produced after the crops in India and the waste will also be almost eliminated. By the way, my test on 100% ethanol was successful. We can also produce methane from plastic, which will allow for complete recycling of plastic. We will first proc. If you help, we can solve a big problem of India.
