70 years of ED: Fighting Financial Crimes, Serving the Nation

ABOUT

The Directorate of Enforcement (ED), established in 1956, complete its 70 years on May 1, 2026. As the premier financial investigative agency of the Government of India, the Directorate is entrusted with the enforcement of laws pertaining to foreign exchange management and the prevention of money laundering.

The activities undertaken by the Directorate have a significant impact on the public at large. In addition to ensuring that offenders are brought to justice, the ED plays a crucial role in the recovery and restitution of misappropriated funds to rightful claimants and victims.

In light of its mandate and contributions, it is considered essential to enhance public awareness regarding the functions and responsibilities of the Directorate of Enforcement. The organization also seeks to highlight its positive initiatives and achievements, thereby fostering greater public confidence. Accordingly, this campaign has been launched, and citizens are encouraged to actively participate.
