Gandhinagar has been shortlisted as one of the hundred cities by Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) to participate in the Smart City Challenge. Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation (GMC) is preparing a Smart City Proposal (SCP) for Gandhinagar that will include Smart City Solutions derived primarily from the consultations with its very citizens and all the important stake holders involved in development process.

All the citizens of Gandhinagar and Gujarat, residing in India and abroad, are hereby invited to post their ideas, initiate discussions and provide useful suggestions for making Gandhinagar the ‘Smart City’. You may post your views on any of the topics listed below or can share any other important topic that you feel is important and shall help in achieving the goal of making Gandhinagar the most livable smart city on the planet.

Some of the topics are

• Smart solutions for infrastructure services like water supply, drainage, sanitation, solid waste management, power supply, street lighting, etc.

• Use of environmentally sustainable solutions like waste water recycling, rain water harvesting, use of renewable energy (solar / wind), etc.

• Safety and security particularly women, children and elderly

• Effective & efficient transportation services like public transport facilities, use of non motorized transport, efficient urban mobility, etc.

• Use of ICT & smart technology solutions in day-to-day life that helps in creation of user friendly solutions for health & education facilities, creating public Wi-Fi network in the city, developing intelligent traffic management systems and parking solutions, developing innovative signage systems within the city, etc.
