In order to design an interoperable ecosystem of data, applications and processes, there is a need to formulate a policy for the Government Organizations to provide Open Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). The “Policy on Open APIs for Government of India” has been drafted to encourage formal use of Open APIs in Government Organizations. This policy sets out the Government’s approach on the use of “Open APIs” to promote software interoperability for all e-Governance applications & systems and provide access to data & services for promoting participation of citizens and other stakeholders.

You are requested to provide your inputs on the policy and suggest implementation approach across the government.

To read the abstract of Open API Policy please refer the following URL: https://static.mygov.in/static/s3fs-public/Draft_Policy%20on%20Open%20AP...

Last date for sending your suggestions is 10th November 2014.

GoI should concentrate on process of creating authentic 'central content of it's citizens' to make open API effective. Today Adhar look highly messed up, Ration card is historian process. If GoI could fix the central content of all it's citizens, just born to kids to adults to seniors to the death - a central data collection, link up mechanism, then we could do wonders in extending the Open API to various sectors - be it taxation, insurance, health care, banking, etc

Open API policy is a good step forward. However, the policy could only be as effective as the 'central content'. For example, GoI could open up APIs in lot many specific sectors - say Insurance, Banking, Taxation, etc. But it could be only as effective as the 'central content data' which in GoI's case is the citizens. As long as GoI doesn't have a process to collect, store and monitor authentic data of say 'me as a citizen', how can a policy of API be 'effective' in use?

The post office:-why cant we make post as internet posting just like internet banking....people like investing in MIS,NSC etc rather then investing in scheduled banks for security purposes. If the investment can be done on the fly through internet it will be the best choice for the indians to invest and the money will be safe with government. ..Secondly we should make the post offices clean and tidy giving them a corporate look...people should feel like entering it...

Now everybody talking about black money and corruption. The chances of bring back the money from foreign nations is not feasible. But the government can prevent the black money in future at least. Kindly make some preventive measures. My suggestion is to encourage using credit or debit cards for making transaction in all shops. So that the money can't be converted to black and the proper taxes reach government. Banks will save expenses on investing in ATM CENTRE investment and maintenance.
