Town and cities in India are undergoing continuous physical expansion and densification along with growth in urban population. Inner cores of many cities have older areas that ...
There should be a One Time Plan which has expansion plans with no redigging the road again.
When hen we have so many Super Qualified Civil Engineers with us i fail to understand how the Road plans are so weak.
Regarding the footpath and the amount of waste that accumulates under it,a plan of monthly cleaning shall take place rather than pre-monsoon cleaning only.
Door to Door collection of waste does not take place at few areas at all.
Maintenance is the key for keeping the development effective and lasting. What is being experienced in municipal area that a road is constructed , within few week it's dug up again for cable laying or water line maintenance then road is left with temporary soil fill up . Proper restoration should be enforced by the authorities after the maintenance . Job order should be released taking it into consideration. Thank you .
Last week I had been to Shanghai(China),I found following observations...
1. Plan of Zones (Industrial, Residential,Commercial) creating infrastructure accordingly, from short term to Long term 50 yrs
2. No City buses.Prefer Metro train(Shanghai has 26 lines)This will reduce pollution, traffic. It will provide great place & space for Metro.
3. City corporation provides maintenance Bicycles FREE,just by mobile App to open lock of cycle . Pick-drop cycles anywhere.
Lets make group visit there..

8) Start charging on usage for water minimal but on usage this will atleast stop wastage 9) Have a single helpline for all services like 911 of US 10) Make it mandatory in all forms educational curriculum to include subjects and activities on cleanliness, depletion of natural resources, causes of global warming and how we can play our role in controlling them 11) Driving Licences only after stringent tests 12) Automate all public grievances and needs 13) Mandatory for all buildings to have cctv
Invest in ducting roads for cables, drainage etc to avoid repeated digging 2) Install sensors along heavy traffic roads and generate renewable green energy 3) Line up both sides of the roads with indigenous trees 4)Involve people by maintaining the plants outside their shops/houses 5) Remove encroachments along roads/footpaths,these make a world of difference to the beauty of a city 6) New roads should be planned with footpaths as wide as the roads 7) Every suburb must have parks and playgrounds
To speed up traffic safely at traffic signal controlled intersections, a special traffic intersection layout got as a vision can be used. It also makes provisions for pedestrians to cross safely. Certain aspects regarding traffic intensity measuring sensors to control duration of lights etc need fine tuning. George Vergese, Chennai. 9840029746
