Food Processing is one of the sunrise sectors in Indian Economy and has the potential to make significant contribution towards reducing food wastages and post-harvest losses, increasing farmer’s income, moderation in food inflation, availability of high quality nutritious and safe food products at an affordable price etc.

With increase in agricultural, dairy, meat and horticultural produce in recent years, India is now a food-surplus nation and offers ready-made raw material for food processing sector. Relatively high post-harvest losses, low level of processing and the large consumer market of the country provide great opportunities to the growth of the sector.

To create, strengthen and expand a robust and modern infrastructure along the entire food processing value/supply chain from the farm to fork, the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) implementing its flagship scheme-PradhanMantriKisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY).

MoFPI intends to make further meaningful and impactful interventions in the sector through suitable policy measures, schemes, programs to achieve the full potential of the sector. MoFPI calls for focused suggestions and ideas from all quarters in this regard. Three ideas/ suggestions, found most suitable by a committee constituted for the purpose, shall be given cash award of Rs 25,000/,-Rs 20,000/- and Rs 15,000/- respectively.

Last Date for submission is 7th July, 2019.
